“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have…”
1 Peter 3:15
If Horn Creek has become a vital part of your life, a Camp Ambassador Corps membership means you care enough to bring that experience to those whose lives you touch. It could be your best friend, or the mailman…you just never know who Christ will move you to introduce to Horn Creek. After all, who couldn’t use the balm that a trip to Horn Creek promises?
As a CAC member, this is a win-win opportunity. Horn Creek gets the benefit of someone who truly has a heart to spread its good message. And you get $50 off for every youth camper you refer and $250 for every group of 25 or more!
And now, for summer of 2008 only, you could come to camp for FREE!
We’re pleased to tell you about some exciting action from the Horn Creek Board that could save you enough to pay for the gas to get to camp – or, perhaps, pay for your entire week!
If you refer an unregistered family to a 2008 Summer Family Camp, both families will receive 20% off the entire camp fees!*
• So, if your total registration fee is $1,600 then you would save $320!
• If the new family has a total registration fee of $2,000 then they would save $400!
Wow! A motivated family could get to come to Horn Creek for Free with the referral of only FIVE families that register. Referrals can be for new campers or those who have been to Horn Creek in the past. It is not limited to any particular camp, but it does have to be a Horn Creek Family Camp in the summer of 2008.
Could it get any better than that? As a matter of fact, yes! Each paying camper attending a JUNE FAMILY CAMP also gets a $30 Rec Card for use with for-cost recreation services including (sorry, no gift or snack credit):
• horseback riding
• alpine swing
• indoor climbing wall
• kayaking
• challenge courses
• bowling
Our Board is sensitive to the high costs of fuel and wants to go to great lengths to help our campers get here. At these rates, rooms will go quickly – so act now! Need materials to get you started? Click here and visit our Camp Ambassador Corps section on the website for lots of downloadable material to hand out to everyone you know.

The Membership Kit below provides everything you need to do the work of a CAC member, regardless of to whom you present it including:
- Flyers about Family, Youth and Ministry Partner Camps for you to print and distribute
- A Meeting Notice for you to post advertising an informational gathering
- Information on using these materials and about obtaining additional support
As a Camp Ambassador Corps member you can use these materials any way you see fit – in a home setting, church setting or with any other group that you think could use a little Horn Creek! This includes family, friends, acquaintances, associates and business contacts. In short, just about everyone you know or know of. Think about how many people you interact with everyday - many of them would be interested in learning more about HC for themselves or someone they know! The important thing is to let as many people as possible know about Horn Creek and the blessing it has been to campers since 1951.

As you prepare for spreading the good word about Horn Creek, the documents below will help. But first, let’s think about who you might share your message with. Remember, as a Colorado business retreat center, Horn Creek can host business retreats, as well as church group retreats, Christian school retreats and home school retreats.
Think in terms of occupations and affiliations, always asking, “Who do I know who...?” For example, if you work think not only about fellow employees, but customers and vendors. In your personal life consider former school classmates, clubs (Toastmasters, Rotary, Lions, Elks, VFW, etc.) study clubs, church groups, networking groups and all other organizations where people come together in community. And don’t stop there! Think of all the people you come in contact with every day. The mailman, grocery clerk, dog groomer, next-door neighbor, soccer coach, Girl Scout leader, teacher, manicurist, lawncare professional – the list could go on and on. Remember, you are giving them valuable information on an affordable vacation, youth camp and retreat option that they may not otherwise find out about without you. And, if they register for camp you will receive $100 off your camp stay for every camp booked with your name as the referral!
Another often-used technique to create a list of prospects is to use a memory jogger like the yellow pages. Ask yourself, “Who do I know who is an accountant, an architect, an attorney ... who may be interested in a family camp or a place for his/her association to use (Christian Legal Society, Christian Medical Society, etc.)”. Remember that Horn Creek offers Family Camps in the fall and winter in addition to summer. And campers have the opportunity to stay for a few days as well as a whole week. Also, business retreats, church group retreats, Christian school and home school retreats can all have their camps tailored to their needs. And youth campers have the choice of SnowRidge or coming with their own church or school group.
So make a list of everyone who could use a little Horn Creek spirit in their lives. Now, think about how you will let them know about Horn Creek. Here are some ideas:
Flyers – You may want to print a stack of flyers to have on hand should opportunities arise. If a flyer runs more than one page, print a two-sided flyer. Put some by the front door, keep some in the car, carry some in your briefcase and have some at the office.
There are four flyers:
Family Camp – This flyer has information about Horn Creek’s family camps in the summer, fall and winter. It’s great for anyone needing a truly uplifting family experience!
Ministry Partners – At Horn Creek, we call our retreat groups Ministry Partners. Horn Creek hosts these groups in the fall, winter and spring for weekends up to full weeks. Any group can hold a retreat at Horn Creek – it’s easily accessible from Colorado Springs.
SnowRidge Camp – This flyerdescribes Horn Creek’s youth camp program in partnership with Campus Crusade for Christ for kids in sixth through 12th grades. This would be great for anyone you know with a middle- or high-schooler AND the youth groups (soccer, girl scouts, church) you know.
The Horn Creek Foundation – This flyer offers information about estate planning and a free service offered through PhilanthroCorp, a premier Christian financial planning firm. This flyer is great for any adult group.
Poster – If you know of a group that you could make a presentation to – the PTA, your church, Kiwanis, book club, to name a few - plan a gathering to offer information about Horn Creek. It does not need to be lengthy or elaborate – 30 minutes could get the job done. And, if you have a fellow Horn Creeker in town, do it together. It will make for a lighter workload and more enjoyment.
You can customize the Poster Template on this page for each gathering you organize. You will want to enter your information on the flyer in the Date, Time, Location, Host and Phone sections before printing out. Then, print and post the Poster in as many locations as are appropriate.
Make sure that anyone who might answer the phone at the number you’ve posted is aware of your gathering event. You might want to leave some notes by the phone so that anyone answering calls can speak about the gathering.
As you prepare for the gathering, make sure you have:
- Flyers to pass out – as many of the four as you think is appropriate
- Enough seating
- A helper to work lights, hand out flyers, etc.
DVDs – Horn Creek has DVDs available for your gatherings. The DVDs are each between seven and 10 minutes in length. You may choose to show one or all, depending on your group and what your goals are. Be sure to view the DVDs before presenting them to your group.
Horn Creek – This DVD is a general overview of camp and is appropriate for all audiences
SnowRidge – This DVD is specific about Horn Creek’s Summer Youth Camps and is appropriate for parents of teens.
Upon This Rock – These DVDs are about the history of Horn Creek and its vision for the future of the camp. It is appropriate for groups that might be interested in supporting Horn Creek’s Capital Campaign, its Scholarship Programs, or making a testamentary gift to the Horn Creek Foundation. One is created for individuals, the other for philanthropic organizations.
Contact us to request a DVD from Horn Creek. Please specify which program(s) interest you.
PowerPoint – Download this PowerPoint presentation and customize it for your gatherings. You will need Microsoft PowerPoint to view and edit the presentation. Just save it to your computer and open it from the PowerPoint program.
