Head Cook

Major Goal:

• Help ensure, as the Spirit allows, the overall viability of Horn Creek, especially in the area of cooking. 

Major Objectives:

• Provide meals for staff and guests.
• Oversee assistant cooks.
• Assist cooking at other camps as needed.
• Assist in other areas of camp operation as needed.

Functional Support:

• Under the supervision and approval of the Camp Manager:
• Provide meals:
• According to the prescribed budget
• According to health and safety laws and guidelines
• According to the prescribed schedule
• For the prescribed number of guests and staff
• In cooperation with the provided staff
• Assist in determining food service workforce (days/times) needs
• Suggest capital improvement concerns and priorities
• Report food service equipment needs (repairs and maintenance)
• Assist in dining room configuration
• Under the supervision and approval of the Operations Director:
• Prepare menus in alignment with guest desires (age, gender, etc. sensitive)
• Order the appropriate type and quantity of food and food service supplies
• Order items in an economically sensitive way
• Maintain an orderly and cleanly food service environment
• Manage the storage and waste produced by food service
• Cooperate in camp-wide meal coordination

Functional Oversight:

• Provide guidance to cooks, servers and other food service workers.

Assist in performing other camp duties as assigned.
