Horn Creek offers not only a broad array of family friendly activities on site, but also numerous off-site opportunities for fun between 10 and 90 minutes from camp.

Onsite

  • Indoors - If it happens to rain or you just get overwhelmed by all of the outdoor activities, you still have the beautiful and totally unexpected Horn Creek Recreation Center for all sorts of indoor fun:
    • Bowling - $3 per person per game
    • Racquet ball
    • Full court basketball /volleyball court
    • Running track
    • Weight training and aerobic equipment  
    • Rock climbing wall - $2/climb
    • Gift and snack shops

  • Outdoors -
    • Summer
      • Hiking - Horn Creek is authorized to operate on the Pike/San Isabel National Forest by Special Use Permit. There are numerous trail heads that begin at Horn Creek, and hiking  the beautiful Sangre de Cristo Mountains is a must for those that love  to hike.  www.fourteener.com  has helpful tips on how to prepare, good maps, and trail photos of  some hikes that are available in the Horn Creek area.

      • Frisbee Golf - $1/disc
      • High Ropes - $20/person
      • Low Ropes Course - $5/person
      • Alpine Swing - $5/person
      • Playgrounds/horseshoes
      • Kayaking - $30/person
      • Guided hikes up Horn Peak and other scenic locations - $5/person
      • Horseback Riding
        • Round-a-bout Camp Ride - $25 per rider. This one-hour ride is good for kids seven and up, and for those who just want a taste of Horn Creek trail riding.
        • Picnic in the Meadow Ride - $30 per rider
        • Scenic Meadow Ride - $40 per rider
        • Cowboy Breakfast Ride - $50 per rider. This 3-hour ride is for early-birds and will incorporate a ride with an old-fashioned "cowboy" breakfast, cooked over an open flame. Kids seven and older are welcome.
    • Winter
      • Snowshoeing - $15/person (over 90lbs), $10/person (under 90 lbs)
      • Tubing Hill

Offsite
Horn Creek is well-located for lots of fun off site. For information on what’s available, click on links below.

  • Custer County offers golfing, indoor swimming, shopping, Bishop’s Castle and more.
  • Royal Gorge area offers rafting, fly-fishing, and the famous Royal Gorge bridge and railroad.
  • Chaffee County area offers shopping in Salida, river rafting, skiing and fly-fishing.
  • Pueblo County offers a wonderful children’s museum, riverwalk and reservoir for boating.
  • Colorado Springs area offers Focus on the Family, Pike’s Peak, the Air Force Academy and much more.
  • Alamosa County is home to the Great Sand Dunes National Monument.
