SnowRidge@Horn Creek is an exciting camp high in the Sangre de Cristo mountain range of south central Colorado. It is affiliated with Horn Creek Conference Center established in 1951.
The mission of Snowridge@HornCreek is transforming the lives of the next generation of youth through spiritual and personal challenge in an "outdoor adventure" setting.
Each summer SnowRidge sponsors week long youth camps of 62 campers. College students from all over the United States involved with Campus Crusade for Christ during the school year serve as counselors for the youth at the SnowRidge Camp.
We provide a program for campers that focuses upon intentional spiritual growth where spiritual truth is communicated in relational environments and through life experiences found in fun outdoor activities.
Each camper is a part of a Growth Team of five other campers that is led by a college student counselor. After Roundup (nightly teaching time), each Growth Team meets and continues to study and process the spiritual truth communicated that evening. During the activities of the next day the counselors continue to help the Growth Team better understand the spiritual truths by relating them to life experiences they are having in the activities of that day.
Each camp week comes to an end with Roundup Friday evening where the focus is upon praise and worship. The campers then have an opportunity to share about what they have learned that week and what God has done in their lives.
SnowRidge is a fun adventure camp
There is a focus upon fun, relational activities. Each week provides opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, a ropes courses, whitewater rafting, stream fishing, water slides, campfires, horse rides, daily competitions, praise and worship music, skits, dramas, singing, a speaker and much more!
The location, setting and physical set up of SnowRidge@HornCreek contributes to this outdoor adventure focus. SnowRidge is located on 400 acres at 9,000 feet elevation in the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range in south central Colorado. The land borders national forest property on two sides. It is just a short distance from the Rainbow Trail, which runs the entire length of the Sangre de Cristo Range.
Campers are housed in cabins. Each cabin can accommodate 10-12 people (approximately 10 campers and 2 counselors). Some cabins have showers and some campers use a nearby bathhouse. Meals are eaten in the Ranch dining hall. Sack lunches are prepared daily and eaten at various locations dependent upon a Growth Team's activities for that day. Roundups are held either in open-air amphitheaters or in the Arena in the evenings.
This fun concept in camping also provides one of the best environments to communicate and process spiritual truth.
