Rex & Sherry Holt

Rex and Sherry Holt have served as missionaries in Togo, West Africa as church planters and student workers. They were unable to have children until the Africans began a special “prayer project” February 6, 1980. This amazing prayer of faith resulted in three children, all bearing African names: John Mawuli (God is alive) born May 15, 1981 followed by two sisters Sarah Kafui (Praise Him) and Rebekah Mawueneyme (God is good) A large part of their story is lessons of faith learned from their African friends. Rex’s teaching is laced with stories straight from his African experiences. He is currently writing a book chronicling the life lessons learned from the pure, child-like faith of African Christians. He is convinced that we must learn from them.

Rex has been pastor of Central Baptist in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Grace Church in Ventura, California, and Baptist Temple of McAllen, Texas. He and Sherry are now planting a new church, called Conejo Church, with a strong emphasis on home churches in Simi Valley California. Their passion is for the family and global missions. Rex is coordinating a partnership project with the churches of Togo, Africa with a threefold emphasis on strengthening believers, planting new churches and meeting the grave health care needs of the people.
